Global Prevalence of Autism: Over 60 Million Individuals Worldwide I.e. more than 25th country population size

As highlighted in a recent article, the global prevalence of autism has surpassed 60 million individuals, warranting the importance of continued #awareness, #research, and #support for individuals and families impacted by #autism spectrum disorders (#ASD) especially in low- and middle- income countries #LMICs.
The research published in the #Lancet is taken from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2021 and found that autism is significantly higher among males, at 1,065 cases per 100,000 males, almost double of global prevalence among females (508 per 100,000 females). This data underscores the urgent need to address gaps in access to diagnosis, interventions, and services—particularly in low- and middle-income countries, where resources are often limited.
Key takeaways:
#Autism is a global concern requiring localized and scalable solutions.
Collaboration across sectors—#health, #education, #child development and technology—is essential to create inclusive systems.
#Advocacy and #awareness play a critical role in reducing #stigma and ensuring #equity.
At A Global Voice for Autism, we are deeply committed to an integrated approach to strengthen health systems, improve early intervention strategies, and empower communities worldwide.
Let’s engage, collaborate, and innovate to make a difference.Â
